We know the holidays are busy and with all the gift shopping, sometimes there is little money available to explore SW Las Vegas and surrounding areas. That is why we have come up with our top 10 things to do in the area that are free or very cheap. We hope you enjoy these activities as much as we are looking forward to experiencing them ourselves. 

Drive the Las Vegas Strip

Plan a day to go see the lights of the Las Vegas Strip and while there, stop by the Bellagio’s Botanical Garden for some family photos and stay for the fountain show. This is a great way to spend an afternoon with the family and see all the holiday displays along The Strip. 

Meet a Mermaid at the Silverton Casino and Hotel

The Silverton Casino and Hotel is home to an aquarium which is home to fabulous mermaids. Stop by, see the fish in the aquarium and stay for the next mermaid show. 

Take a Road Trip to Mt. Charleston

Pack up some snacks in the car and warm jackets this month because you need to head up to Mt. Charleston and see the snow. Just remember to be careful when driving and follow all winter road precautions. 

Grab some holiday cupcakes at the Mad Hatter

Though not free (averaging $3.50 per cupcake), this is definitely worth it if you are looking just to grab one per person in the family. The cupcakes at this location are filled, frosted and decorated right in front of your eyes. Kids will have a blast designing their own holiday-themed treat. 

Stop by Santa’s Wonderland 

Bass Pro Shops is hosting its annual Santa’s Wonderland event this December. Families can enjoy free crafts, activities and visits with Santa this month. Click here for times and more details about Santa’s Wonderland. 

Experience an Old Time Ranch Christmas

Spring Mountain Ranch hosts an annual Old Time Ranch Christmas event, featuring holiday songs and activities from the 1940’s and 1950’s. This is an educational holiday event that the entire family will enjoy. The date for this year’s Old Time Ranch Christmas has not yet been announced. Meet Santa 

Swing by and do some holiday shopping at Town Square and stop by and see Santa. Town Square hosts a variety of holiday-themed activities. Click here for more details about Town Square this holiday season. 

Decorate Cookies and Watch a Movie

On December 13, 2019 at 6 p.m. families can enjoy time learning how to decorate cookies and stay to watch a movie - “Elf.” This is a free event being hosted at 3521 N. Durango Drive in Las Vegas. 

Visit Clark County Libraries

Throughout the month, the Clark County Libraries are hosting an assortment of holiday-themed activities. Families can enjoy storytimes, crafts, movies and much more. Make sure to watch out events calendar for upcoming library events and activities. 

Listen to Storytimes at Barnes & Noble

Throughout the month of December, Barnes & Noble locations throughout the area will be hosting storytimes and activities. Click here to find a local Barnes & Noble and to see a list of events.
