Time flies by so fast and in a blink of an eye, your baby is now old enough to get a learner’s permit. Where did the time go?
According to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) all new drivers are required to obtain a learner’s permit before they can move on to acquiring a full driver’s license. Teenagers must also successfully pass an approved driver’s education program before obtaining their driver’s license.
Here’s how to get a learner’s permit in Nevada:
- Age Requirement: 15 ½ years old
- Visit Local DMV office and submit forms with parent/guardian’s signature
- Show proof of: Identity, Social Security Number, Residency (2 documents)
- Show Certification of Attendance form
- Pass vision and written test
- Pay licensing fee
Upon completing all of this, the DMV will mail your child’s learner’s permit to your home within 10 business days.
Once your teen has his/her driver’s permit, it is time to get behind the wheel. According to the Nevada DMV website, here are the behind-the-wheel requirements for getting a driver’s license:
- Complete 50 hours of driving practice
- Have 10 hours driving practice at night
- Complete a driver’s education course
- Have learner’s permit for at least 6 months
Once all of that is completed, the next step is for your child to obtain his/her Nevada Driver’s License. Click here for more details on how to do that. Click here for access to DMV forms and fees, as well as make your appointment.
