Send some holiday cheer to kids spending Christmas in the hospital

How to send a letter to hospitalized kids

The holiday season is a time for joy and spending time with the family. However, not everyone gets to spend time at home, with family, enjoying the holiday season. There are children across the country spending the holidays in the hospital. Help bring some holiday cheer to hospitalized children by creating fun, festive cards to send to them.

Here is how to send a card to a child spending the holidays in the hospital:

Start making cards to send. Handmade cards are more personal and can bring so much joy to a child spending the holidays in the hospital. Use this time to be creative and help your kids with their creativity. The only requirement is that there are no small parts that can easily fall off and if possible, avoid using anything with glitter.

Since you do not know the name of the child who will be receiving the card, address it “To: A Very Special Person.” At the requests of many hospitals, avoid writing things like “Get Well,” “Feel Better” or any other illness related comments. It is also best to not include any type of religious comments, as many hospitals will not distribute those to patients because they treat patients from all religious backgrounds. Some suggestions for things to write include “Stay Strong,” “You are awesome,” “You Inspire Me,” or “You Rock.” Only sign the card with a first name and do not include any personal contact information.

When done with your cards, place them in a large envelope and mail to:
