Letter from Your Publisher: Time to start taking care of Mama Bear

By Heather Landon, Publisher SW Las Vegas, Henderson & Boulder City January 17, 2020

Time is now to start taking care of Mama Bear!

For those of you who do not know, two years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 (almost 5) kidney failure. After a few months of hosting my very own pity party, I took my life back into my own hands. I was determined to not let a disease that they were telling me had no cure and the only way I would get better was to get worse and end up getting a transplant. Heck no! That was not going to happen.

After changing my diet and adjusting a few things in my life (going all natural whenever possible), I have been able to lose 20 pounds and am now at Stage 2. My doctors are shocked I was able to do it as they have never seen such an improvement before. If I keep on the improvement track I am on, they see me being at Stage 1 and almost in remission all together by summer.

So, being that I have done everything I could on my own, I need to press forward and continue to lose weight, but needed some help. That is why I have turned to Cowboy Boot Camp for help. They offer fun classes that are 30 minutes long, making it possible to fit in a workout no matter how busy I am.

My journey has just started and my goal is to lose 60 pounds before my next appointment with my nephrologist this summer. I have already attended one class and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. I have not worked out in forever and feared I would barely be able to one round of the class, but I was able to do all three!

This week is crazy, but I am committed to at least get one class in. Then starting next week, I will be there at least four times, if not more.
