Have you ever driven down I-15 and saw giant colorful boulders neatly stacked in the middle of nowhere? Wondered what they were? We recently took a drive to discover what these boulders were and we discovered an unique, breathtaking art exhibit right in the middle of the desert.
Created by internationally renowned Swiss artist - Ugo Rondinone - this large-scale art installation is a must visit for families. The seven towers of colorful stacked boulders stand more than 30 feet tall and offer a unique backdrop and photo opportunities. Produced by the Nevada Museum of Art and Art Production Fund, Seven Magic Mountains opened May 11, 2016.
According to the website, this location is “A creative expression of human presence in the desert, Seven Magic Mountains punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color”
If you are planning on visiting Seven Magic Mountains make sure to bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen. It is especially hot during the summer months and it is best to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. Wearing other protective clothing and hats is also a good idea. Oh … and don’t forget your camera. This work of art not only offers visual enjoyment for the entire family, but also makes for great photo opportunities.
