Note from Your Publisher: It's a New Year

By Heather Leigh Carroll-Landon, PhD - Publisher Macaroni Kid, Henderson-Boulder City, North Las Vegas, & SW Las Vegas January 8, 2021

Greetings everyone!

Thank you all for following us in 2020 and making a difficult year an amazing one for us here at Macaroni Kid SW Las Vegas. Though it appears 2021 is not off to a good start (especially after this week's events in DC), it is a new year. This is a time to forget all the bad things that happened and move forward. Embrace what this year has in store for you and do everything possible to enjoy it.

The one thing I learned last year is to embrace my family and the time I have with them. That means I put down my computer and play video games with my son or help him with a science project. That means enjoying a movie at night with my husband. Whatever I can find to do with my family, I am putting work aside and doing it. Being that I work from home and have for the last ten years, I know it will be there for me later on.

Now you might not have the flexibility I have, but that does not mean you cannot enjoy time with your family. Make sure to carve out a specific amount of time each day just to spend with your family. Watch a movie. Cook a meal. Play a board game. Just spend time with the family and enjoy the time you have with them. Be present. A great way to do this is to plan a non-tech night. Put all electronic devices away. Order a pizza and play board games, make a craft or conduct a family-friendly science experiment. There are so many things you can do together.

This is why I publish Macaroni Kid SW Las Vegas. To offer families like yours activities, events, and family-friendly ideas at your fingertips. Every newsletter is full of articles featuring recipes, crafts, projects, local activities and much more. Didn't find something in this week's newsletter? No problem. Our website has articles dating back five plus years. Visit our home page and do a search for a craft or activity you want to do with your family. I am sure you will find a bunch of different ideas.

Well, I am going to go. We are taking our dog to the park and enjoying a date out of the house.
