Outdoor Winter Fun Spots in SW Las Vegas

Looking for winter fun in SW Las Vegas? Here's our list of can't-miss family fun.

It seems everyone in SW Las Vegas is looking for ways to get out of the house this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids. 

We put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in SW Las Vegas (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months in SW Las Vegas, Nevada: 

1. Go Hiking at Red Rock Canyon

Explore the great out doors at Red Rock Canyon. This national conservation area offers plenty of places to explore, go hiking, take amazing photos, and possibly catch a glimpse of some wildlife. Cost is $15 per car.  

2. Seven Magic Mountains

See the amazing art sculpture of Seven Magic Mountains, right here in the desert. This is a fun family adventure to take just off of I-15 heading to California. 




3. ROAD TRIP: Grand Canyon

Pack up the car and head on out to the Grand Canyon for a family road trip. Kids will have a blast learning about the formation of the canyon and seeing its beauty right in front of their eyes. The park offers various opportunities to participate in activities, explore, learn about the history, and have a picnic lunch with the best view in the world. Admission is $20 per person. 

4. Visit the Hoover Dam

Head on out for a fun adventure at the Hoover Dam. Kids will enjoy walking across the Nevada-Arizona Border and learning how the dam helps provide energy to the Southwest. Admission is free, tours and parking are additional. 

5. Dig This

Take the fun to the largest sandbox in Southern Nevada. Dig This offers opportunities for everyone ages 3 and up to operate their very own construction vehicle. Prices vary by experience - Kids Digs start at $20. 




6. Clark County Museum

The Clark County Museum is a fun way for kids to learn about the history of Southern Nevada, and spend time outside. Part of the museum is themed around a small town - Heritage Street - featuring historic homes found throughout the state. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children.

7. ROAD TRIP: Nelson, Nevada

Take a road trip to Nelson and explore this historic ghost town. Families will have fun looking at old buildings, antique cars, and taking the tour of the abandoned gold mine. Free to stop by. Self-guided photo tour and mine tours additional.
